Operated by the Avis Budget Group it was founded by Warren Avis in 1946 with a total of 3 cars at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan USA. They are famous for the slogan `We try harder` which was devised to overtake Hertz the market leader which was used to give a better perception of customer service over their rivals.
